Argolite Architecture Dialogue “On dealing with Architectural Pearls”

In 2020, Argolite – the Swiss manufacturer of top-quality High Pressure Laminate (HPL) – launched the “Argolite Architecture Dialogues” – a series of events staged in exclusive settings in selected buildings of special architectural merit where high-grade HPL from Argolite is used. By focusing on current issues in the fields of architecture, planning and design, these “Architecture Dialogues” give architects, interior designers, planning specialists and carpenters fascinating insights into the world of materials and surfaces. Dialogues in the series are staged either live or in film format.

The third Argolite Architecture Dialogue was held under the motto: “On dealing with architectural pearls” The discussion, which presented the planning and conversion of unique Swiss buildings, was a live discussion with Christoph Schneider, Dipl.-Ing. Architekt SIA and partner of SAM Architekten from Zurich, and Roland Leutwyler, Sales Director and Member of the Management Board of the interior finishing professional GLAESER from Baden in the World Football Museum in Zurich. The film of the dialogue was made afterwards.

“ The focus is always on the inclusion of the existing infrastructure and the appropriate addition of new materials. ”

CHRISTOPH SCHNEIDER, Dipl.-Ing. Architekt SIA, Partner SAM Architekten

“ We aim to develop appealing design that will delight the eye of the beholder. We believe it is important that the materials and products we use should radiate value. In our view, this shows our appreciation of the clients and users. ”

SUSANNE FRITZ, ETH Architect

Argolite installation instructions

Time-saving, efficient and easy to install: these are the attributes that Argolite claims for the installation of its products. As an instructive and attractive way of conveying these benefits to the target group of carpenters, we developed a film to explain the installation instructions for the HPL Compact Plus product. The film was taken during an actual installation as part of an Argolite reference project, residential estate Kuppe Trift Horgen by Esch Sintzel Architekten / BGS & Partner Architekten; the result is an attractive film format for use on digital channels.

Jackie 60

Jackie 60 is synonymous with NYC’s underground nightlife. Jackie 60 means art, performance and satire, seasoned with sarcasm. Jackie 60 was the creation of Johnny Dynell and Chi Chi Valenti. After many years of involvement in NYC’s night-club scene, they eventually established their own club – Jackie 60 – back in 1990. Within a few months, Jackie 60 became the ultimate place to meet up on Tuesday evenings in NYC.

Every week for a decade, the Jackie family created performances, and “Method Go-Go” centered on unique (though sometimes recurring) themes. In 1999, Johnny and Chi Chi decided to bring the Jackie legend to a stately and dignified end, and the film crew began shooting its last forty weeks. With the club's full participation, almost all of the Jackie 60 nights were captured along with behind-the-scenes footage of the hours of work and planning that went into each performance.

“ Jackie 60 filming was based on our intention to capture a unique time and place in the history of the NY clubs, and also to mark the end of an era. ”
